5 Steps to Get your Study Abroad Process Started

Studying abroad is such an incredible and unique experience for students to step out of their comfort zone and be immersed in another culture. Let’s go over what you need to do to get your study abroad process started.

#1: Research Program Opportunities

Use the Klein GO Portal to explore the different programs that are offered within Klein. Use our Klein GO Portal to search and learn more about the various program opportunities available through Global Opportunities. For more information about our programs, simply fill out our Inquiries Form.

#2: Consult with an academic advisor and Student Financial Services

An advisor can help you identify potential times to study away, while Student Financial Services can determine the types of financial aid that may be available to off-set the costs of studying away.

#3: Complete your advising application

Stop in our office in Annenberg Room 15 to begin the process with a Peer Advisor, or just click “Apply Now” on the page of your preferred program! Please note: GO will take 24-48 hours to review your advising application.

#4: Start your program application

Once your advising application has been reviewed by a Klein GO staff member, you will be provided with access to begin the application for your program of choice. You can preview the application and watch an instructional video on how to get it done while you wait to gain access.

#5: Review application requirements

Generally, each program will require: a 500 word application essay, unofficial transcripts from Temple or the institution from which you’ve transferred, 2 recommendations, and a mandatory application review meeting with GO. Don’t forget to tell your recommenders that they don’t have to write a letter; they just have to fill out an online form!
