Arcosanti is one of the most famous ecology-architecture sites in the world, a living prototype for the merger of ecology, technology, and the principles of sustainable design for cities. Begun in 1970 and located 70 miles north of Phoenix, Arcosanti is a one-of-a-kind small experimental city based in the principles of “arcology” (architecture + ecology). Annually, Arcosanti is visited by 50,000 people and hosts 180 students in Arcology workshops. Since 1970, over 7000 students have participated in the workshops. Each year, we send 20 students to Arcosanti to discover all that arcology has to offer.
