With registration for fall 2021 underway, consider taking classes that will aid in declaring the International Communication Concentration (ICC)! You've probably already taken a class or two, either abroad or here on main campus, that would count toward this concentration. Here's how it works:
Cohere moved their office to the Spring Arts District, an up and coming part of Callowhill. The district is home to breweries, art studios, restaurants, and creative class makers. The building Cohere moved into has a rich female history where it served as a school until the late 1800s and then became part of the marble yard that was in the neighborhood. In the early 1900s, it was used as a machine shop that manufactured boring bars for locomotives and lathe work.
We had fun and learned so much with @socialimpactstudios right here in Philadelphia on our last #KOTG tour! It was refreshing to see art and creativity used for engaging people in important social issues.
Giovanni's Room is the United States first LGBTQ+ bookstore that is still operating. It is located on the corner of 12th and Pine street. They sell LGBTQ+ fiction and nonfiction as well as music, artwork, comics, Grussvom Krampus, clothing, and more. It was taken over by Philly Aid in 2014 after the owner announced his retirement.
The Annual Reminders were a series of early pickets organized by LGBTQ+ organizations that were held in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. They were also among the earliest LGBTQ+ demonstrations in the United States. The purpose of the demonstrations was to remind people that the LGBTQ+ community did not have basic rights and protections.
Welcome to the secret garden of Philadelphia! The Viaduct is located beneath the Rail Park where micro-gatherings and events are held. Grow Clean Water Hub is a public educational installation at the Viaduct aimed at linking clean water and healthy food in partnership with Rodale Institute. It features a scavenger hunt coloring activity that encourages families to visit each of the educational displays and learn more at GrowCleanWater.org, while parents can enjoy the open-air, COVID-safe atmosphere of the garden. Cohere designed the educational signage for the instillation and coloring pages.
